Meet the Artists

Alex Cairns

Alex Cairns Celebre is so honoured to be directing the BIPOC’s Artist Showcase for the 4th year in a row! Content producer for TSN’s The Shift with Kayla Grey by day and In-Arena host at night, Alex loves her jobs in sports but is so thrilled to keep intact with her creative roots with VCP!

Ayat Reza

Ayat Reza (any) is a first year in Cinema and Media Arts. While more used to taking behind the scenes roles, they’ve started branching out to let their own work be seen as well. The Hub was a good opportunity to meet likeminded peers and be able to contribute to the community, especially as a first year student.

Basil Carter

Basil Carter (they/them), a singer-songwriter and screenwriting student, discovered their love of music at ten years old while composing their first song. Mainly working with rock, folk and pop, their music explores all kinds of love through stories of wonder, growth and melancholy. Basil is currently working on their first EP.

Cale Simpson

Cale is in his fourth year at York in the Creative Writing program. He’s been involved with VCP over the past couple years both in productions and behind the scenes. He is very happy to be joining the Work Study team as the technical director for set.

Cameron Cheung

Cameron Cheung (he/him) is a 4th-year student studying Information Technology, but despite that has had a long-standing interest in art on the side. He likes making visual art, typically 2D drawings resembling those of newspaper comics or Flash cartoons from the 2000s. In his off time, he likes to watch YouTube videos and play video games, and is particularly fond of obscure media. He's only recently joined the VCP as a member of BIPOC Artist Hub, and is hoping to use it as a means of sharing some of his drawing skills.

Danny Sylvan

Danny Sylvan is a theatre producer, director, and playwright. Danny studied Theatre and Performance at York University, with a specific study of playwriting and new play dramaturgy. Aside from directing independent projects written by himself, Danny Assistant Directed The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and directed The Labyrinth of Desire, as well as Kinky Boots, all at Vanier College Productions. He is thrilled to be back at VCP assisting with the BIPOC Artist Hub Showcase this year. Danny has written an exciting new play premiering at the 2026 Toronto Fringe Festival entitled “EX-Change Of Words”. Show dates and more information will be found at @dnlsylvn.

Hannah Sebolino

Hannah Sebolino (She/her) is a third-year Communication and Media studies major and a marketing minor debuting in the BIPOC artist hub and the Production Crew. She has a love for creating media, particularly scrapbooking.

Marissa Miller

Marissa Miller is a first-year Cinema and Media Arts (Film Production) student from Jamaica, passionate about illustrating her stories and ideas through surrealist painting. Her work often explores emotion, memory, and imagined worlds as a way of visual storytelling. If you can’t find her in the art studio, she’s probably crocheting, experimenting with makeup, or binge-watching an entire movie franchise in one sitting. She is ecstatic to be part of the BIPOC Artist Hub and to continue developing her visual voice within a creative community!

Misun Kim

Misun Kim is a third-year Psychology student. When she is not at VCP, she enjoys crocheting, baking, collecting CDs and Pokémon cards, and managing the social media for the Archery Club. She is excited to be returning to VCP for the third time and to leave the backstage for the first time. This year, she is Stage Managing our musical, A Chorus Line and will be joining the BIPOC Artist Hub for the first time.

Nat Wilkinson

Nat (she/her) is in her fourth year of Gender & Women’s Studies and Concurrent Education. She is glad to return as a member of the VCP Work-Study team as the Inclusion manager, and to step into her new role as Company manager as well. She is also excited to return for her fourth year as part of the BIPOC Artist Hub and share her talents with friends and community!

N.D. Jia

N.D. Jia is a Digital Media Game Arts student, the designer of the BIPOC Artist Hub Showcase’s website, and the president of YorkU’s tabletop RPG club DnD & RPG @ York. As a software artist and a game designer, N.D Jia is an enthusiast and creator of interactive new media art, code-as-poetry, and both analogue and digital games.

Nicole Okojie

Nicole Okojie is a fourth-year Global Health student and the Assistant Stage Manager for the BIPOC Artist Hub. Her studies aren’t theatre-focused, but she has always loved the stage. She fell in love with theatre and art in high school and rediscovered that passion this year. Nicole loves creating, whether she is writing poetry, watching performances, or exploring new forms of expression! She enjoys learning new ways to tell stories. She joined the BIPOC Artist Hub in 2025 and is excited to help bring stories to life and support a space where BIPOC artists can shine.

Noel Pham

Noel (he/they) is a third year Theatre major and is excited to return to VCP for the third time, especially with how big this year is for the company. Having been a board operator in his first two years in various shows, he is excited to come back as a cast member of Show Choir for the second time and an artist in the BIPOC Artist Hub for third. He is also one of the costume designers for Show Choir this year. When he isn’t busy with school, work, and VCP, Noel loves to spend his free time hanging out with friends, playing video games, and creating art.

Shahd Karout

Shahd Karout (they/she) is a first year in concurrent educational studies. They’ve always had a love for writing and art-- whether that be writing plays/screenplays, making comics, engaging in visual art, music, or theatre. Joining the artist hub was a great opportunity for them to get involved in the community and use art as a creative outlet.

Thaila Dixon

Thaila Dixon (They/Them) is a second-year Cinema and Media Arts student of mixed Black Jamaican heritage. They have recently joined VCP in multiple roles, including as a member of the Vanier Improv Club, the BIPOC Artist Hub, and as the stage manager for the Hub’s upcoming five-year anniversary event. A tattoo artist of more than 15 years and a multidisciplinary creative, Thaila’s practice includes storytelling, sculpting, block printing, and visual art. After many years of focusing on client-based art, particularly through tattooing, they are now being intentional about exploring their art practice in a more personal and reflective way.

Thaila is excited to be a part of the BIPOC Artist Hub and looks forward to representing the community with care and gratitude.

Tiara Tirei

Tiara Tirei is a fourth-year Communications and Media student with a cinema minor. After spending all four years with VCP and the BIPOC artist’s hub, they took on the task of stage management. She is happy to be back and helping Alex and the artists with their work.

Tina Goli

When Tina ‘Titi’ Goli (she/her/they/them) started the visual arts and art history program back in 2022, they saw the BIPOC Art Hub as the perfect opportunity to share their ever-developing artistic and creative skills, joining and now being a member for 3 years! She is always invested in engaging with new ideas and themes, to invite not just herself, but others to critically think and appreciate what can be learnt from in being with art. Activities and interests outside of the Hub include eating fine food, writing, indulging in deep/philosophical conversations, talking walks and exercising/yoga, gardening and being with the wild world!

Tobi Omooba

Tobi is a fourth-year Criminology student in his third year at VCP. In the past he’s graced the stage as Cameron in Bring It On: The Musical, and as a member of the BIPOC Artist Hub. He is glad to be returning for another year as part of The Hub.
